What CiteWins does
CiteWins is an SEO, AEO, and GEO workflow tool — not an analytics dashboard. It connects to your Search Console, detects specific, named opportunities in your own data, and writes a copy-ready fix for each one. The primary screen is an Action Center: a Kanban-style backlog of task cards, each carrying the why, the fix, and a way to track the result.
Grounded, not guessed. CiteWins works from your entire real search footprint, not a hand-picked list of prompts. That means it also fixes the classic Google organic traffic you already get — still the largest channel for most sites — while future-proofing you for AI answers.
The workflow
- The Algorithmic Layer finds what's wrongDatabase-level heuristics scan your synced Search Console rows for specific, named SEO and AI-search problems — before any AI is involved. This keeps detection fast, cheap, and explainable.
- A small, targeted payload goes to the AIOnly a tiny, pre-filtered slice of data for a single opportunity is sent to the model — never your raw analytics. The AI never sees more than it needs to write one good fix.
- The AI Layer writes the fixThe model returns a structured task card: a plain-English rationale plus exact, non-generic actions — optimized meta title, meta description, answer blocks, and header changes based on the gap.
- You review, publish, and measureNothing is published automatically. You copy the fix into your CMS, mark the card done, and CiteWins measures the before-and-after on the same page and query.
What CiteWins detects
Detection runs in the database first, so every card is explainable and cheap to produce. These are the opportunity types CiteWins surfaces from your Search Console data.
Striking Distance
Queries ranking on page two (positions 11–20) with real impressions but few clicks — small pushes that can reach page one.
CTR Optimization
Pages already ranking 1–5 whose click-through rate falls below the benchmark for that position — usually a title or description problem.
Content Decay
Pages losing organic clicks month-over-month while the rest of the site holds steady — content that has quietly gone stale.
Keyword Cannibalization
Multiple URLs competing for the same query with comparable impressions, splitting your own ranking signals.
AI Overview Suppression

AI citation tracking
For queries that matter, CiteWins asks a grounded AI answer engine the question and records whether the answer actually cites your domain. Each check is tied to a specific query, page, provider, and date, and stores a baseline plus follow-ups so you can see change after a fix.
- Cited
- The grounded AI answer actually references your domain as a source for the query.
- Retrieved-only
- Your page was pulled into the model's context but not used in the answer — tracked separately, never counted as a win.
- Not cited
- The answer neither used nor referenced your site. This is the gap a fix aims to close.
- Baseline / follow-up
- Every task keeps a first check and later re-checks, tied to a specific query, page, and date, so you can see change over time.
Honest by design. AI answers vary by query, provider, location, and timing, and each check queries one engine at a time. CiteWins reports citation status as directional evidence — never a guaranteed placement in any AI product.
How CiteWins collects data
CiteWins requests only read-only access to Google Search Console (webmasters.readonly). It syncs recent query and page performance, stores granular daily rows for a rolling window, then rolls them up into historical aggregates to stay fast. For citation checks it uses grounded AI providers that can search the live web.
Read-only means read-only. CiteWins cannot edit your website through Search Console. Every recommendation is reviewed and copied by you before it goes live — the tool proposes, you decide.
